Meet Our Governors
Mardi McBrien – Vice Chair
Mardi McBrien has two daughters who are currently in Year 4 and Year 6. She is the Senior Director, Enhancing Transparency, Corporate Performance & Accountability (CP&A) at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), based in London. She also serves on the board of HSBC. Originally from Australia, she has lived in Bermondsey for over 10 years.
Teague Stubbington – Parent Governor
Teague Stubbington has a daughter who joined the school in Reception and is now in Year 5. He served as a Parent Governor from 2022 to 2025 and is currently a Co-opted Governor. He works for a wildlife conservation charity that operates two regional zoos, and he believes that conserving wildlife is essential for the future well-being of everyone. He considers a good education for all to be key to achieving this and values the culture at Riverside, which supports every pupil in developing in a well-rounded way. He brings experience in both large- and small-scale design-and-build projects, as well as strategy development and team management.
Samuel Chandrasekaran – Associate Governor
Samuel Chandrasekaran joined the Governing Body at Riverside Primary School to give back to a community that plays a vital role in his family’s life. With one son currently attending the school and a second son due to join next year, he has a strong personal investment in ensuring Riverside continues to thrive.
In his professional life, he works as a Director specialising in mergers and acquisitions and strategy. His work involves supporting complex strategic transactions and helping organisations navigate periods of significant change. He aims to bring this experience in strategic planning and financial oversight to the Governing Body, acting as a “critical friend” to support the school’s leadership team. He is committed to ensuring that Riverside Primary maintains its high standards and remains a supportive, inspiring environment for all children, and he looks forward to applying his skills wherever they can add the most value to the school’s future.
Nikini Arulanandam – Parent Governor
Nikini Arulanandam has one daughter at Riverside Primary and was appointed as Parent Governor in 2025. She has worked in textbook publishing for almost 15 years and is deeply committed to improving education. In her role, she is keen to support different groups within the Riverside community and strengthen home–school partnerships. She is also passionate about helping children develop the digital skills they will need for the future. She is currently Head of Product Development at the schools’ textbook publisher, Hachette Learning.
Elżbieta (Ela) Borkowska – Parent Governor
Elżbieta (Ela) Borkowska is a parent of two children at Riverside Primary. She works in community engagement and is passionate about supporting an inclusive and thriving school environment. She is keen to help shape the school’s future, particularly in areas such as governance, finance, and community involvement.
Sacha Meek – Staff Governor
Sacha Meek has worked at Riverside Primary School since 2015 and is an experienced class teacher who has worked across all phases. She has been Team Manager of EYFS and KS1 since 2024.
